Sugar Land

Sugarland is located Southwest of Houston in Fort Bend County within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and has grown more than 160 percent since 1998. The population is approximately 81,000 and the Sugar Land real estate market is very strong with its residential community base noted for the most master-planned communities in Fort Bend County (which has the most such communities in the U.S.) Sugar Land homes are plentiful and offer a lot of selection of styles and price ranges. Sugar Land also holds the title of "Fittest City in Texas" for the population 50,000 - 100,000 range and in 2006 it was ranked by CNN/Money and Money magazine as third on its list of 100 Best Cities to live in the United States. In 2007, Sugar Land was ranked fifth on the list of Safest cities in the Unites States. Sugar Land residents enjoy a large median income and the area is home to the headquarters of Imperial Sugar, Western Airways and has a major manufacturing facility for Nalco Chemical Company. It also has a large number of international energy, software, engineering and product firms. Educational opportunities include the Fort Bend Independent School District, Wharton County Junior College and the University of Houston System at Sugar Land.
