Houston home sales continue to climb, but down from 2008

July 2009 home sales in Houston are the highest numbers we’ve seen since August 2008. July 2009 has 6393 home sales. This is less than seen in July 2008, when 6718 homes were sold or in July 2007, when 7551 homes were sold. These are 5 and 15 percent drops, respectively.

The average and median home prices are hovering around their 2008 counterparts. Houston’s average home price in July 2009 was $216,000, which was 2 percent lower than July 2008’s $219,600. The median price was $161,900, which is 2 percent higher than July 2008’s $159,900.
