Baytown

Baytown is located within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area along both State Highway 146 and I-10 with a population of approximately 68,000. It is bounded on the northern shore of Galveston Bay between the San Jacinto River on the West and the Trinity River on the east about 30 miles east of Downtown Houston. It is a prosperous industrial community with major corporations represented including Exxon-Mobile Baytown Refinery, Exxon Chemical, Chevron Phillips, Bayer, Amoco, etc. The Baytown Real estate market has held firm in recent years and supports moderate growth in retail sales which have exceeded $600 million annually. Baytown homes are varied with downtown redevelopment opportunities and suburbs that are continuing to grow along with the industry, service and retail markets. The population is served by the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District based in Baytown which provides educational programs to all of Baytown, Highlands, outlying areas of East Harris County and a small portion of western Chambers County.
